This is a painting I finished around Thanksgiving, for my Mom’s Christmas Cards. Today is Ash Wednesday, wishing everyone a Blessed Lenten Season. Oil on Paper, 11 x 14″.
“If you ever feel distressed during your day, call upon our Lady, just say this simple prayer: ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.’ I must admit, this prayer has never failed me.”
– Blessed Mother Teresa
So a long hiatus, but I have a good excuse..err.. reason. I started to teach a couple of classes and there is nothing like that to give your skill set a workout! Since they are drawing and painting, I will post a couple of each. Here is a starter, thanks and welcome to the new followers and thanks again to my old friends 🙂
After teaching kids how to draw and paint this summer, I am back in the studio. I demo’d how to draw Spidey about 100 times! I got them started by teaching them how to draw everything from “Hockey” (she meant Hawkeye), Rapunzel, and my favorite, the Flying Uni-Panda (this is a thing now) . I learned Snoopy had a girlfriend (!!) named Fifi and drew her a few times. As they head back to school this week, my young artists have learned a lot and even got to use “REAL artist” materials. Here are my two finished paintings from my first week back at “my real job”.
Morning of the Third Day, oil, 10 x 20″
Webcrawler, acrylic, 12x 24″
He is Risen!! From His humble journey to saving all of Humankind…wishing you a Blessed Easter! -Katy
Ah, you thought it was a painting of the Mandarin, but it’s not. Spring is here and with the slew of comic events, I will be inspired to paint more figure/comic stuff. For now, here are some oranges. Eat one! they are a great source of antioxidants! Oil on canvas, 9 x 13″
Got busy and finished three this week, so the pressure is on for next week! Very different works. I am usually stuck when I am asked what style I paint in– I think if an artist has just one, she might consider branching out. So here are three.
“Etch” 24 x 36″, acrylic, alcohol and water on canvas
“Rise” 30 x 30, oil on canvas
“No fate but what we make” 18 x 24″ oil on canvas
She really does. My goal was to paint a simple scene and this girl is messing with my chi! I will keep on working this one…as I have time and patience.
Recently sold: Horse Dream–many, many thanks, Grazie mille!! to this awesome collector!!!
ok that is just the working title.. square canvases are challenging, this one started out as a landscape and was a bit too empty. Now it is a horse painting, going to finish this up as soon as it sets up a little- I used a combination of gamsol and linseed, very nice result. More horses but looks a little like a gathering of ATATs, doesn’t it? 36 x 36″ my sneaker in the frame gives it some scale!
Working on a few possibilities in oil using only Black, White, and Gamblin Torrit Grey. I am carving the horses out of the darkness. Those lumps on the beach may turn into dogs… or maybe a lobster, I haven’t decided.
